Dyer Mountain

In the Northern Sierra, Sierra Watch provides strategic resources to protect Dyer Mountain in Lassen County.  Would-be developers had proposed the biggest project in the Sierra, with 4,000 new homes, three golf courses, and a ski resort on 7,000 acres of forest lands.

Sierra Watch and Sierra Club joined Mountain Meadows Conservancy in a lawsuit to stop illegal approvals.  In 2008, proponents filed for bankruptcy, putting development on indefinite hold.  Now Sierra Watch is guiding discussions towards a conservation resolution.  MMC Dyer Mountain Photo

"Sierra Watch is absolutely critical to our work to protect Dyer Mountain; we couldn't do it without them.", Steve Robinson, Mountain Meadows Conservancy
