Executive Director, Tom Mooers

T MooersTom has worked as an advocate for land conservation in California for fourteen years.  Before joining the staff of Sierra Watch in 2001, Tom worked as Field Director for Greenbelt Alliance in the San Francisco Bay Area and as Assistant Executive Director of the League to Save Lake Tahoe.  Tom is also a graduate of the Green Corps Field School for Environmental Organizing and the University of California, Los Angeles.  He lives in Nevada City with his son Wes and their dog, Mable.

Field Director, Peter Van Zant

P Van ZantPeter brings to Sierra Watch a proven track record in conservation leadership and land use experience.  He served as board member and President of the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) from 2005-07.  Peter was also a two term Nevada County Supervisor.  During his tenure as a supervisor Peter was chairman of both the Sierra Economic Development District and the Golden Sierra Job Training Agency.

His private sector experience includes an engineering career in the microchip industry and college instructor.  He is the founder of Peter Van Zant Associates, a consulting training organization.

Peter lives in Nevada city with his wife Mary and a household of goofy pets.

Operations Manager, Chris Postlewaite

PostlewaiteChris has many years experience with project and department management.  He has been designing and managing data base applications for more than 20 years.  He also owned and operated Postlewaite Consulting, as an information technology and data base consultant, specializing in the conservation arena.  He lives in Grass Valley with his wife Susan.
